Nutrition: Fats and Oils

I found a helpful tip sheet from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute on fats and oils and how to choose the best kind.

Eat less of all fats and oils. When you do use fats and oils--choose those with less saturated fat.

C H O O S E
More Unsaturated
Margarine (especially soft,
light, trans fat free margarine)
Oils: corn, canola, olive,
safflower, soybean, sunflower

A V O I D
Trans fat
Stick margarine

More Saturated
Butter
Solid shortening
Lard
Fatback
